Am thinking that we will be only taking books clothes and computers nothing else so should be fun times ahead.

the new word for the day kids is Bullarkey
Author: makala
I thought i would share the new word that was invented in my household just recently, It is a word that has many meanings depending on the situation you in at the time. It happened one night when i was discussing something with my husband as I was just about to tell him that he was full of bull$%#^ I discovered little ears and thoughts of the word malarkey ran through my little brain. Thus the word bullarkey has been invented, I dont know if it is a real word or not but it is now.

This is the best thing about this house we rented I thought I would have to go without a room opf our own till the house got fixed but this room in the basement is the best. yehovah always knows what you need even before you think you need it. This room even has its own sink for easy paint and craft cleanup and all the mess is out of site of guest. We have our own computer station thanks to my husband who knows how to fix and build computer me and little miss naughty have our own side by side and we play games together or i teach her from them.
There is an old kitchen table and some chairs for seat work and mostly for piles of supplies. ( gotta love the dollarama)
This is the game and learning shelf with puzzles flashcards games and a leap pad. dominoes a sewing kit and wipe clean workbooks for fun learning. a cupboard with piles of free and used books courtesy of the l;ocal library sale and the beat storytime lady out there. we even got tow sets of the knowledge book encyclopedias for free from them one for learning and one for cutting up.
Here is the easel foe art work and a play station for all the toys to be put away and the sink and cupboards for storage are over on the other corner. here also is a shelf full of the books well be using for like the next six years I just cant belive all the lord has done for us isnce I deceided to homeschool I tell you we have been blessed beyond measure I dont think I will ever have to buy a thing for my daughters education ever. I have boxes piled in one corner of the room that have textbooks and reders and all kinds of stuff for up to grade eight or higher reading level. I think im getting off track though.
This is the shelf I was talking about I just want to take this whole room and transplant it into our house. I wish I could. I told my husband I want a room with exactly all this stuff when we move. and I know the almighty one will provide.
watchin history in the making
Author: makala
well last night history in the making happened right before our very eyes, the first black president of the u.s.a. I was so amazed I thought I would never see the day when a great moment like this would happen. I have only had the pleasure of reading the accounts of other great moments in black history, Its positively outrageous what some people have had to struggle through there whole lives and never get no where. I am so glad my daughter has the oppourtunity to live in a day and age where she can grow up to be anything she wants to be.( even president) I still remember the day my little miss naughty was born no one in my family came to see me for three days (my daughter is half black) and then when my mother finally showed up she refused to hold her or even look at her. It still hurts me to this day and since she moved she has not seen her in three and a half years she does not even send the girl the girl a birthday card. but all is well my girl has been sent a whole new and loving family, yashua has given her all the lovin family anyone could ask for. so now when we do our timeline of history in grade three or four she will be able to look back and remember the day when the world saw the first black president of the united states even though we live in canada.
the many uses of packing tape
Author: makala
I have recently discovered the versitlity of packing tape in my home it has become a daughter to duct tape or at least it should be. Did you know that packing tape is a surface you can use wipe off markers with? i did not know this until the other day when my daughter decided she was going to scribble on the roll it was then i relized it was coming off on my fingers. So now i am going to do this experiment i am going to print off some adding pages from the computer take some packing tape and cover the page with it and see if that will make a page she can use over and over insteasd of me printing out new ones everyday. dont get me wrong i dont mind printing but id love to save a couple trees this year alone. and then i also used it to cover some flashcards i printed out for a lapbook instead of leaving just paper now they wont rip and she can play with them all she wants. I also have used the stuff to put together two or three file folders at the spin instead of glueing them together and wasting the inside of the two flaps your supposed to glue so there is more space for minibooks. Im looking for other uses for the stuff and belive it or not my husband fixed the dresser drawer today with ductape i wondered why he was taking ductape in the bedroom.

another unit almost finshed little miss naughty has sure loved learning about insects. we spent almost every weekend outside bug hunting and I started recording each adventure outside in a nature journal. This is something she’ll be able to look back and read when shes older. I think were going to do a theme on farming next with some really cool resources i found at the library and some sheets off the net. Thanksgiving is this weekend and well be doin the turkey thing this sunday, i’m planning on using this to wrap our thanksgiving lapbook together and then well be finished that too. any sugestion for the coming winter months when we will not be able to get outside a lot. I am planning on teaching some two letter sight words and starting a phonics skills workbook little miss naughty has also been showing some interest in adding so im thinking about getting a few basic adding workbooks from the dollar store as well. anybody who has suggestions for the winter please let me know so i can plan ahead.

well I think I finally figured out how im going to keep track of the things we do in homeschool. I only went through three different kinds of planners so far since september. I hope this one works I was planning out the weeks ahead of time and then witeing out everything cause we never did half of it and my planners looked to messy with all the witeout( im a neat freak) so we got this old photo album the kind with the peel back pages today at this place in town where you can go and get free clothes and stuff that people have donated ( i also got a globe of the world and several workbooks and readers someone else in town must be homeschooling too ill have to find them ) ( can we say stalker?) so I printed out a load of free weekly planners, course study blanks and reading logs hole punched them and made a front page for it and then stuck them all inside. now when we do something ill record it after the fact and we can also add more pages if needed and include photos of the year in the back of the planner. I thought that was a cool idea to include photos of the things we did. I also plan on putting some notebook pages in to record some of the things we do that need more then three lines to explain. I would like to know if theres anyone one out there who homeschools in ontario have you ever had to talk to the school and tell them your homeschooling or not i keep getting conflicting answers and I need to find out before next september, also I would like to know if anyone gets free materials from the schools for teaching at home. like math workbooks or spellers. I have also tried to order form scholastic books and they told me i need to order through a registered school or get somekind of letter saying were part of a homeschool group but there isnt one where I live . please let me know of any suggestions you may have and have a good day.

well i got to say we didnt get much seatwork done this week i still got virtually everything still in the clipboard from monday but oh well i guess thats the homeschool life. it was so nice this week no rain at all that we went out a lot, we picked up leaves of different colors for the fall and were going to wax paper them and put them in a nature notebook. we also went to the story time at the library again this week that is always a great hit with little miss naughty. shes gone on two car rides with daddy this week out to the new house she calls it a farm because were surrrounded by farm land on all sides, she says there was a cow eating our grass ( she was very shocked to see it there). the cow had wandered through the farmers field onto our land, i guess our grass tastes better. shes also been watching her uncle dig out the basement around the house to put new weeping tile in because the old ones broke. he has been doing this by hand for a whole month now, the poor guy everytime he gets it cleared out it rains and the whole thing caves in again. so theres been plenty of mud pie to go around. i got to say somtimes i think shes not listening to me when im reading to her but now i know she does, twice now ive heard her giving a lecture to someone about something shes recently learned. she was giving one to her cousin about how ants kiss to communicate and how bees dance, he did not know this. and then we had a jehovahs witness come to the door and she gave the lady a talk about halloween and witches and how yahweh dont like magic and hell, where hell is and where heaven is and jesus name is yeshua and gods name is really yahweh. so i belive my little miss naughty is learning after all.
